An Oil On Canvas, Saint-germain-des-prés Par Louis Willaume
Artist: Louis Willaume
Louis WILLAUME 1874-1949
French landscape and city painter, engraver and illustrator.
A pupil of the great William Bouguereau and Gabriel Ferrier, the painter's career was crowned with success.
He won several medals at the Salon des artistes français (silver and gold), the Prix Corot in 1923 and the gold medal for the engraving section in 1929.
His paintings were exhibited throughout France, as well as in Spain, Switzerland and Japan.
His real passion? Paris!
He painted on the spot or from sketches he drew while out and about.
He is fond of gray tones, and his canvases are often painted in this chromatic range.
But his paintings are no less vivid and luminous.
