A high carat gold ring set with an agate cameo of two owls.
The cameo is Italian and dates to the 17th century.
Ring size M 1/2 UK / 6.5 US.
The bezel measures 2.46 x 2.14cm.
The cameo is damaged to the right hand side, however in the classical taste the setting edge of the ring incorporates a fine gold repair.
Another owl cameo, set into a ring can be found in the last image, it was sold by Sotheby’s Bond Street, 06 December 2016; Old Master Sculpture and Works of Art Including Highlights from the Reinhold Hofstätter Collection - Lot 62. The cameo was catalogued as ‘Italian or Bohemian, Milan or Prague, probably circa 1600’.
