The screw top silver cap is engraved with a quartered coat of arms which is surmounted by a helmet and a deer and is flanked by a unicorn and a leopard.
The flared silver mount on the gourd is mostly plain except for turned rings and an engraved dogs tooth setting.
The gourd was most likely collected in South America and mounted in England.
