Painter of genre scenes and ports, Jules Ribeaucourt was a pupil of Julien Gustave Gagliardini. Like his master, he painted in the manner of the Impressionists, playing on the effects of color and form. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, as well as at the Salon des Indépendants, where he obtained a silver medal in 1932. In 1928, he was appointed official painter of the navy and became curator of the Cantini museum in Marseille.
