Louis XVI Salon Table Stamped Amschmidt
Coffee table all sides in mahogany and mahogany veneer, it opens with a side drawer (the oak drawer represents the entire width of the table). It rests on four sheath feet, they are hollowed out from reserves and end with original bronze hooves. The gray marble top is surrounded by a bronze mold. It bears the AMSCHMIDT stamp for Antoine Marie SCHMIDT master on February 4, 1784 Son of a German sculptor, he came to Paris in 1782. Established in rue Chabanais, he received orders from the Menus-Plaisirs administration for various game tables mahogany. In 1788 he delivered a large solid mahogany table to the Château de Versailles for the Physique cabinet of the children of France. Louis XVI period.
