Denis Garreau - Grand Drageoir With Swans Sterling Silver & Crystal Restoration Period

On a square base scalloped with a frieze of olive leaves in relief, supported by winged claw feet, four superbly chiseled stylized dolphins form the barrel, underlined by an ornament of water leaves. It maintains a very beautiful cut crystal cut in crosses and oblong oves enriched with double nets. Flanked at each end of the cup, imposing palmettes support two swans with outstretched wings, forming the gripping handles. At the neck, above a small plain groove, a row of pearls highlights the lid with fine threads topped with a swan as a frill on a terrace with stylized foliage. No knocks or bumps, no deformation, cut in perfect condition, usual micro-scratches from use, excellent conditions for this elegant bezel. We put sweets, sugared almonds or cookies in it, the container being large enough for this and the piece is extremely decorative. Very elegant piece of goldsmithery whose attributes are often found in this master goldsmith of the first quarter of the 19th century, and taken up by the greatest names such as Puiforcat or Christofle, in particular on sauce boats, jam makers and cutlery.
