This view of the Pont Neuf by Stefano Della Bella (1610-1664) with topographically accurate representations of the buildings and a numbered legend is one of the Italian artist's most famous. Among the 451 distinguishable figures are beggars, gypsies, hurdy-gurdy players, tooth-pullers, along with horses, donkeys, dogs, and even a lamb.
