Large Mirror With Fables De La Fontaine: The Fox & The Stork - Golden Wood, Louis XVI Period

Large mirror in carved wood gilded with gold leaf, model with pediment decorated with a medallion topped with a knot of ribbons presenting the fable of the Fox and the Stork, by Jean de la Fontaine, the edges flanked by falls of laurel and foliage, our mirror is a Lyonnais or Rhône Valley work from the Louis XVI period (end of the 18th century). Our mirror is complete, with a beautiful and rich finely carved Louis XVI decoration and its two-part mercury mirror is the original one. Beautiful large format piece, very decorative, and in good condition. The gold leaf gilding is the original 18th century one that has been cleaned by our gilder.
