Set of four superb panels carved in high relief from the second French Renaissance around 1540-60, in walnut (or fruitwood) finely chiseled depicting scenes representing "The Loves of the Gods": Mars and Venus, Apollo and Diana the Huntress, Hercules and Omphale, Neptune and Amphitrite.They each measure 38 x 27 cm.
Erotic versions representing the Loves of the Gods were popularized by Augustin Carracci.
