Jean-pierre Schecroun (1929-1991), Blue And Orange Composition, Oil On Canvas, XXth Century

Very beautiful oil on canvas signed lower right JP. SCHECROUN and dating from the 1960s. This abstract composition suggests an orange silhouette, as if sitting cross-legged with raised knees and tilted head resting on them, all standing out against a shades of blue background. Everyone is free to see anything else, but what is true is that this painting gives off an impression of softness and serenity conducive to meditation. Jean-Pierre Schecroun, dubbed the brilliant forger at the time, was convicted in the early 1960s of forging works by modern masters such as Picasso and Braque. He will then explain that it was not to make money but to denounce the credulity of art dealers who refused to buy his own works but paid large sums for his fakes. In this case, it is indeed one of his personal and original works, which deserves real attention. Note a very small lack of paint in the upper left quarter (see photo).
