This is a Kachan Dabir rug from Iran, made in the workshop of the master weaver Dabir around 1900/1920. The rug is made with a high quality silky lambswool pile, called kork, on a cotton foundation. The field of the carpet presents motifs of foliage, garlands of flowers and polychrome foliage on a ruby background. It is adorned with a large central floral medallion in the shape of a navy diamond encrusted with multicolored floral palmettes, with four spandrels reminiscent of the central medallion. The rug also includes five borders, the main one being midnight blue with multicolored stylized flower bulb and shell designs. She is in very good overall condition, with a density of around 8,000 knots. Dimensions: Length: 206 cm Width: 132 cm
