"Emile Gallé (1846 - 1904) Pair Of Miniature Art Nouveau Planter Cups In Glazed Earthenware And Flowers"
Lovely pair of cups or planters with scalloped edges in enamelled earthenware decorated with a maritime landscape on one side, on the other a Lorraine flower. Flowers that remind us that the flora was one of the essential sources of artistic inspiration for Emile Gallé, emeritus botanist. It is indeed a real pair, each of the cuts having different decorations on each side. Signed on the reverse "E Gallé Nancy" under glaze and one of them is numbered 508. Around 1890. In the purest Art Nouveau style! Dimensions: Length: 14 cm Width: 6.5 cm Height: 9.5 cm Very good condition. Tiny enamel jumps on one of the two (see photo). A unique cup, very similar to our pair, was sold a few days ago to an auctioneer at the Hotel Drouot in Paris (see the last two photos which are photos from the sales catalogue).
