Antique 19th century framed etchings entitled "Love leads them" and " Friendship brings them back ", engraved by Jean Prud'hon (born in 1778) after the work of the french painter Jean Baptiste Mallet (1759 Grasse - 1835 Paris).
This neo-classical prints come in a custom made antique gilted frame that was fitted by our framer, mounted with an old glass. The engravings are also put in a custom-made "passe-partout" (a mat) and were initially cleaned by a profesionnal restorer.
These etchings are illustrated in John Grand-Carteret book "le décolleté et le retroussé" 1500-1870 Quatre siècles de gauloiserie 5ème fascicule Paris E.Bernard & Cie ; it is said by John Grand-Carteret that they had a tremendous success at the time.
