"Paul Louis Mestrallet (1886-?) "pont De Sospel 1930" French Post-impressionist, Provence"
MAGNIFICENT gouache by Paul Louis Mestrallet signed, dated 1930 and located Sospel lower right. Size without frame 54x44cm It is therefore a very beautiful post-impressionist composition with a fauve tendency by Paul Louis Mestrallet who painted the Sospel bridge here in 1930. Faithful to his way of painting, he uses a broad and powerful touch and above all a tawny, lively and colorful palette with warm colors such as orange, yellow, but also green, white...and finally a magnificent blue. This artist was born in Paris in 1886, post-impressionist painter of landscapes, seascapes and still lifes, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants from 1909 and at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1910. He planted his easel in many regions of France, Paris of course, but also in Provence, on the island of Yeu in Vendée, as well as a lot in Brittany. Its coast is variable but we can note results up to more than 4000€ in 2016 for its Port Joinville on the island of Yeu. This gouache is in very good condition, delivered in an old frame; you can see pieces of marie-louise wandering between the glass and the work, but if the buyer decides to keep this frame, I will clean and remove all this.
