This work is an engraving executed by Gudin after the portrait drawn by Rouget. It takes up all the codes of representation of the return to power of the Bourbons. This portrait of Louis XVIII shows him with his bust turned to the left. The king is represented in uniform and wearing multiple symbols of power: the orders of Saint-Louis, the Legion of Honour and the Holy Spirit. To be noted: this engraving retains its original cartonnage partially sealed with the framer's label: it is therefore its frame and its period glass.
Condition report: excellent condition, small lacks to the frame and stains to the engraving, rare original condition!
