Rare work presenting the voyage of the Artémise carried out by order of the French Government, illustrated with 25 intaglio engravings drawn by Admiral Paris with a text by Casimir Henricy (publicist, former sailor, having also been part of the expedition) Edmond Paris grew up in Brest, his skill as a draftsman and his skills as a sailor had already launched him on the seas aboard the Astrolabe alongside Jules Dumont d'Urville. The 25 plates on thick paper are engravings of great finesse. Interior in very good condition, slight discoloration on one page and rare foxing (see photos) In-folio (26x35 cm), oblong, publisher's cloth binding, gilt edges. The very damaged back (eaten by rodents). Limited edition deluxe edition.
