Painting representing a landscape the mountains and a village signed Maxime Noiré, born in Guinglange (Moselle) on November 9, 1861 and died in Algiers on July 4, 1927, is a French orientalist painter. Original frame Maxime Noiré went to Algeria for health reasons and settled around 1882 in Algiers, where he acquired notoriety as an orientalist painter. Traveling in southern Algeria, where he discovered the oases and the Aurès and after having had a studio in Algiers at Frais-Vallon, at the Jardin d'Essai, and near Bab El-Oued, he ended up settling in Bou- Saâda whose fame he contributes in the wake of and with Étienne Dinet. In 1905, he was appointed official painter of the Navy and the Colonies. He is one of the founders of the Society of Algerian and Orientalist Artists. He participates in the creation and promotion of the Abd-el-Tif prize and the Villa of the same name. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists. Among Maxime Noiré's works, we can distinguish View of the Bay of Algiers from Bouzaréa, View of Frais-Vallon near Bab-el-Oued, View of Tipaza, and sunny panoramas of southern Algeria, such as the views of Bou Saada, or the Abiod wadi in the Aurès. Isabelle Eberhardt dedicated the Tears of Almond Trees to Maxime Noiré, “the painter of burning horizons and weeping almond trees”1. Maxime Noiré is the father-in-law of the painter Paul Jouve.
