Very beautiful watercolor on paper 50 cm x 31 cm, preserved under glass and sold with its frame 70 cm x 55 cm, signed lower right L Hamonet, titled "Le four à boulets - Erquy", dating from the 30s/40s, and representing a view of the seaside at Erquy in Brittany, at sunset.

Léon Hamonet (1877-1953)
Léon Hamonet, born in Erquy on December 13, 1877, died in Rennes on February 12, 1953, was a French painter. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux with the painter Alfred Smith, he lived in the town of Dinan, where he perfected his talent as a watercolourist. In 1897, he acquired his first Doris, the Courlis. In 1901, he was a laureate of the School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux and, in 1903, spent six months in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, as a clerk for the Société Cabissol. Léon Hamonet settled permanently in Erquy in the early 1910s, after marrying the daughter of a notary from Ploumilliau. If he happens to give advice on painting in his studio, Léon Hamonet spends most of his time on the moors and shores, painting many seascapes or lands of the Emerald Coast. Working in a style inherited from Impressionism, Léon Hamonet also produces oil paintings and pastels.
