Object description :

"Old Puzzle Game Of The French Departments Early Third Republic Ed Bognard Previous Box"
Old puzzle from the end of the 19th century dealing with French departments. 6 plates of 15 departments, i.e. 90 departments. (paper on cardboard) Edition of Jean Louis Bognard lithographer printer in Paris born in 1824, active in his own name from 1868. We find there the French departments without the Haut Rhin and the Bas Rhin, annexed by Germany in 1871 , but instead are placed: Alsace-Lorraine and the Territory of Belfort (officially baptized: Arrondissement substant du Haut-Rhin), as well as the department of Algiers. Undoubtedly a revanchist edition, because Haut Rhin and Bas Rhin will not resume their names and places until 1919, the territory of Belfort not officially becoming a department until 1922. We add the box in which the plates were found, but which is that of the famous puzzle: "the departments in action" 1861 1866. The boards having the same size as the interior of the box. Condition: good condition of the plates which have a few small gaps, the attached box is provided as is, it has suffered the ravages of time, the top lithograph is stained. and has tears. Boards: 42.5 x 34.2 cm. Box: 44.5 x 36.5 cm.
