Richard Parkes Bonington Lane at the Dungeon. Oil on mounted paper. Signed. Leaf gilt frame, friezes of nested laurel leaves. Frame: height 49 cm, width 40 cm. View: height 32 cm, width 23 cm. Richard Parkes Bonington, born October 25, 1802 near Nottingham and died September 23, 1828 in London. A British painter and lithographer, he depicts landscapes and seascapes with a romantic sensibility. Despite a very brief career, he was one of the most influential English painters of his time. His technical mastery from the Flemish and Venetian masters, and his resolutely modern style are expressed in works with striking atmospheric qualities, which bear comparison with those of Turner or John Constable. The largest collection of Bonington's works is held in London at the Wallace Collection. Possible delivery. https://www.antiquites-saintjean.fr
