Cartel And Its Louis XV Period Console Signed Vallette In Paris flag

Object description :

"Cartel And Its Louis XV Period Console Signed Vallette In Paris"
Important 18th century cartel in the shape of a violin, resting on its wall console, in Martin varnish with decorations of bouquets, garlands of flowers as well as a gallant scene on a carmine red background.
It is generously garnished with a rich ornamentation of Rocaille bronzes combining symmetry and asymmetry and giving off an elegant dynamism in a perfect balance.
The white enamel dial, signed Vallette à Paris'' is made up of thirteen fragments (one for each of the hours and one for the central part)
It indicates, by two finely chiseled hands in perforated brass, the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals.
The original movement has a silk-thread suspension and strikes the hours as well as the half-hours.
We can date this very beautiful cartel in the years 1740/1750, because after these dates the dials with thirteen fragments gave way to one-piece enamel dials (Ref: la pendule française – Pierre Kjelberg)
