Wucai Vase With Dragons, Mark Wanli, Qing Dynasty, 19th Century
清 萬曆款 五彩穿花龍紋蒜頭瓶
"suan tou ping" VASE (garlic head), painted of wucai colors: iron red associated with dominant purplish blue, beautiful yellow, and green, underglaze.
The swollen body shows two dragons, one blue, one red, in pursuit of flaming pearl, among a decor animated by lightning and arrows. Above, separated by a frieze of Greek, windings of flowers, in blue and red foliage.
Shoulder is tightened with a garland of multicolored vases, edge painted of a six-character mark, Greek and blue and red stars.
Dimensions: H: 23.5. D: 11.5cm, weight: 620gr.
