Alfred Dubucand, born Alfred Bucand November 25, 1828 in Paris and died September 7, 1903 in Châteaudun is a French sculptor Alfred Dubucand is one of the students of Antoine-Louis Barye He made his debut at the salon of 1867. He mainly modeled groups of animals, deer, dogs and horses. He frequently experimented with the chemical patinas of his bronzes, according to the teaching of Barye, Dubucand pays particular attention to the anatomical details and the correctness of movement of his subjects. He models his figures in wax or clay, then casts them in lost-wax or sand bronze. A large number of his Orientalist sculptures represent North African scenes depicting Arab tribes and nomads with horses or camels. Dubucand exhibited one last time at the Salon of 1883 with his group of Arab Cavalier and Woman at the Fountain. Established in Chateaudun at the end of the 19th century, he died there on September 7, 1903 at his home at 28, rue Nationale
