Very Large Caster, Sterling Silver, Paris 1884-1911, André Aucoc
Very large Regency style sprinkler in solid silver with the first title with the guarantee hallmark "à la tête de Minerve" and the master goldsmith hallmark of André Aucoc, active in Paris, rue de la paix, from 1884 to 1911. Passionate about the most prosperous period of French goldsmithing, André collected the finest goldsmithery of the French eighteenth century. In his work there are many pieces that are exact historical replicas both in their design and in the techniques used to make them. He is not only inspired by his personal collection but is also based on the countless drawings and engravings by Bérain, Lepautre, Ballin, Meissonnier, Germain, Roettiers, Odiot or Thomire that he finds in archives . The sprinkler that I offer here is the perfect testimony of its know-how, it breathes the Regency period in its design, in its proportions and in its manufacturing techniques. It looks like two drops of water to the magnificent sprinklers of around 1700-1730. They weigh a generous 485 gram and measure no less than 23,5 centimeters
