"Rustic Bed Set In Siamese Tricolor Or Rouennerie - French Revolution"
Circa 1780 France Rare Rustic bed set in tricolor Siamoise composed of a bed bottom, two slopes and a crenellated canopy tower and dating from the period of the French Revolution. Very fine tight and skilful weaving in linen and cotton with fine stripes of indigo madder and white yarn commonly called Rouennerie. Original braid on the edges in brick-coloured silk bourette. Hemp links with brass rings. Hand-sewn set entirely original 18th century and not subsequently modified. The red of the back wall panel pulls towards the brick, due to the use of a different color in the weave (this is not a discoloration!). Clean set, no holes or tears. Exceptional state of color and conservation considering its age. Dimensions: 2 curtain slopes of 101 cm x 208 cm, 1 wall bottom slope of 138 cm x 145 cm and a valance bed bumper of 29 cm x 600 cm
