Painter of the Belgian school, he works mainly in Brussels on genre scenes such as kitchen interiors with servants, ladies in their boudoir, but especially still lifes with flowers, fruit and game or floral still lifes with kittens. His works are signed M.Carlier, Max Carlier, Albert Max or Max Albert or under the pseudonym M(ax).Bernin. He traveled throughout Europe and particularly in Italy.
