Netsuke - Cute little carved wooden model of a toad, sitting on an abandoned Waraji (straw sandal), his back legs bent and his head slightly raised as he prepares to jump, the strap of the sandal forms the Himotoshi. Beautiful natural patina tinted with black. Signed under the base on a reserve: Masanao (from Yamada). Length: 3.2cm. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 19th century.
