Large Carved Black Forest Cross
Astonishing cross typical of Black Forest craftsmanship in oak. Very refined sculpture work evoking an oak topped with acorns whose branches enclose a sun in the center of the cross whose top bears the INRI phylactery. The oak base with steps at the front is surrounded by a snake and decorated with large oak leaves. A ladder, spear and hammer are attached to the back of the cross. Rare and beautifully crafted piece of highly original Black Forest craftsmanship.
