Saint Louis Of Toulouse - XVIth Century
In 1296, he will be named Bishop of Toulouse by Boniface VIII. By accepting this charge, Louis of Anjou then becomes Louis of Toulouse.
He will ask the Pope for a favor, that of being able to keep the Franciscan bure tied at the waist with a cord which our subject is wearing here.
Our Saint Louis de Toulouse is made of resinous wood carved in the round, polychrome and gilded. Beardless, standing and mitred, he holds his crozier (brought back) with his left hand.
Molded terrace with sides. From the Languedoc region. A precise work of the XVIth.
Good overall condition but accidents and lacks including the left hand.
