Jules Chardigny (1842-1892) - Double Portrait Of Dogs - Griffons - Oil On Panel -
French school of the second half of the 19th century depicting a double portrait of French hunting dogs with ancient origins of the breed of grands griffons vendéens. Oil on panel signed lower left "Chardigny" for Jules Chardigny. Modern Frame, with marie-louise, in wood and golden resin.

Biography : Jules Chardigny was born in London in 1842. Son and pupil of the sculptor Pierre-Joseph Chardigny, he began his career by presenting a cast of Paul and Virginie at the Salon of 1868. At the same time, he trained in painting alongside his master, the talented Thomas Couture. Chardigny seems to have specialized in the representation of dogs, his work offers us interesting portraits. He died in 1892 in Paris.
