Timo Sarpaneva Iittala Bottle Vase 50s

Artist: Timo Sarpaneva
"Bird's beak" bottle vase by Timo Sarpaneva, produced by the Iittala art glassworks (Finland), in very dark blue transparent blown glass. 1957.
Good condition, with some fine scratches from use.
Height 20cm
Diameter at the foot 9cm
Signature engraved below Timo Sarpaneva and the number 400. A label "I" for Iitalla on the body of the vase.
TIMO SARPANEVA (1926-2006)
Born in 1926 in Helsinki (Finland), he studied at the School of Applied Arts. From 1950, he became a designer and artistic adviser for Iittala and many factories, working with different materials: ceramics, wood, metal, textiles and glass. He won numerous distinctions and took part in the greatest world exhibitions devoted to glass art.
