"Chiseled And Gilded Bronze Bull. XVII Th Century"
Chiseled and gilded bronze bull. XVII th Century Stocky body; with forward curved horns; pleated neck with dewlap; tail raised on the right side, the end of which rests on the upper back. Holes under the legs. Height: 9.5 cm - Length: 14 cm; (accident at the base of a leg, wear to the gilding and deformations) This pretty finely chiseled bronze had to find its place in a composition such as a centerpiece, perfume fountain or incense burner. The workshops of Germanic founders, particularly in southern Germany such as Augsburg, indeed carried out this type of prestigious orders for princely courts or the high nobility.
