The entire sideboard rests on two large black lacquered wooden bases connected to the body of the cabinet by fluted and silvered cylindrical elements. Black opaline glass top The central doors are inscribed in a double Gabon ebony frame inlaid with light wood fillets and ivory pearls Revarnished furniture, in superb condition. *Christian Krass, born in Aubusson in 1868 and died in Lyon in 1957, was a cabinetmaker and furniture maker from Lyon in the 20th century, considered to be the "fine flower of Lyon's decorative arts". His achievements are numerous: consoles, storage units, executive desks, low game tables, sofas or even clocks, as well as the techniques and materials used (Macassar ebony veneer, felt-stained walnut...). In 1924, the Salon d'Automne took place in the city of Lyon. At the time, the event went far beyond the borders of the city and the work of artists from the Lyon avant-garde (painters, engravers, cabinetmakers, sculptors) resounded in the capital. The following year, in 1925, Paris hosted the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts. Many decorative art artists from Lyon will have the privilege of participating in the event. It is precisely the years around this date that allow us to understand the decorative arts of Lyon, and to reveal the most representative artists of this artistic movement.
