Large screen of the Directoire period, late THIRTEENth, with 4 leaves painted on canvas, in the taste of Sauvage, (Piat Joseph Sauvage / 1744-1818), renowned for these trompe l'oeil.
Panels decorated with grotesques, scenes with characters and animals, winding of foliage of olive rinses and vine leaves, bouquets and baskets of flowers, ribbons and cornucopia from which arises a nymph carrying in a medallion the duties and leisure of a young girl from a patrician family:
She brings offerings and sacrifices (the lamb) to an altar on the 1st sheet, then she plays the ancient flute called aulos in Greece and shin in Rome on the 2nd, she is near the altar of love (Eros or Cupid) on the 3rd, and finally on the 4th she is a dancer.
Although in its juice, this screen late eighteenth, remains very beautiful and very decorative.
Plan some restorations.
