Victor Vasarely 1906-1997 "KUB-STRI" Heliogravure on glossy paper by Éditions du Griffon (1974) Place of printing: Neuchâtel / Switzerland Franco-Hungarian artist considered to be at the origin of the Op Art or Optical Art movement. Vasarely's paintings and sculptures use geometric shapes and colorful graphics to create illusions of spatial depth on two-dimensional surfaces. The artist focuses on the expression of the movement called Kinetic Art. Wassily Kandinsky's Bauhaus and the constructivism he studied from 1929 had a considerable influence on his work.
