This divinity is the figure of the mother carrying on her back figurines representing the dead children whose presence and soul she maintains, by carrying them. The child she carries in her arms is him, very much alive and he is linked to her by the arm and the hand of the child which are a kind of umbilical cord ensuring, by this vital breath, the survival of the soul of her child. The voodoo ritual aims to bring its followers into communication with the spirits through music and trance and to win their favors through these sacrifices: to have prosperity, health and obtain a cure, for a marriage to take place , so that a birth arrives, to celebrate happy events or to accompany a death, to celebrate the changes of seasons and the return of the rain.
