Enrico Pontremoli (1914 - 1968) is a painter of Italian origin who worked in France, probably attracted by the presence of Henri Matisse. With Robert Doisneau, they set up an underground printing press during the occupation to provide false papers. Photographs by Robert Doisneau immortalize these resistance activities. From a Matissian figurative painting in the 1940s, Enrico Pontremoli's painting evolves towards a more geometric abstraction of curves.
