An elegant young woman walking on a beach. An umbrella matching her pink dress protects her from the summer sun.
Charley Garry, as usual, paints her model with style and glamour. The artist evokes the summer and its sunny pleasures and delivers a painting full of freshness and cheerfulness.

Charley Garry trained at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Paris. He was a disciple of Gabriel Ferrier, François Flameng and Jules Adler.
Charged with a mission by the Minister of Colonies, he went to Equatorial Africa, which inspired the theme of the decoration of the Brasserie Lipp.
He is indeed the author of the classified decorations of the famous Parisian brasserie located in the sixth district; the place is frequented by the greatest poets, writers and artists of the time. He is also referenced in the Musée des Arts premiers, quai Branly, which holds one of his works: a market scene in Brazzaville. Garry "the African", will be the winner of the French Equatorial Africa prize.

But Charley Garry is above all celebrated as a painter of the French cancan, of scenes inspired by the music hall of the Parisian night scenes in the wake of Toulouse-Lautrec.
He presented in the Parisian salons "provocative paintings of women who have for title: Breeze, Jazz, Tango, The Black Suit, Voluptuousness, Intimacy, Eve" notes Lynne Thornton in her book "The Africanists, Traveling Painters: 1860-1960" (ARC Edition).
