Object description :

"Hippolyte Leon François Duluard (1871-1953) "
Magnificent painting (oil on panel) signed Hippolyte Leon François Leon Duluard, representing a Renaissance writer or gentleman at his writing table. Hippolyte Leon François Duluard (1871-1953): French painter, watercolorist and engraver having exhibited both in Paris and abroad, most often known for these wonderful representations of musketeers. He is notably exhibited at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels since 1935. He was a pupil of Jean Leon Gerôme (1824-1904), official painter of the end of the 19th century and one of the main representatives of academic painting of the Second Empire having enjoyed tremendous notoriety during his lifetime which continues to this day and which has even sometimes inspired cinema. This sumptuous painting has beautiful colors that are both dark and bright. The atmosphere that emerges from this painting is extremely soothing and suggests an atmosphere that is both studious and creative, while being imbued with great serenity. The subject seems to be seeking inspiration. Our painting is presented in a magnificent wooden frame and gilded stucco very richly molded and presenting an old leaf gilding still clearly visible on the whole of its perimeter. Rare and tiny old small stucco gaps have been taken over. Panel dimensions only, without frame: 41cm x 33cm
