Important Pot Covered, Old Sandstone From Satsuma Ovens, Japan Meiji Period, Rich Decor Of Cranes, Peonies, Blossoming Plum Trees

Important and rare model of a covered pot in fine sandstone from the Satsuma ovens, Meiji era (1868-1912).
We offer you this large covered pot very richly decorated with a master's hand; it presents a painted decoration of water landscapes where cranes evolve, on one side we can see two cranes in flight and on the other three in feet.
These beautiful, legendary migratory birds stand out against the backdrop of landscapes of water and scattered clouds that can be seen in the distance; they are sumptuously represented in a luxuriant environment of flowers and various flowering branches; including an interlacing of peonies and plum branches loaded with their pretty spring flowers.
The body is flanked by two roaring dragons or chimaeras perched on rings from which passementerie cords descend forming knots and whose ends are decorated with pompoms.
The cover is set in a strong groove around the edge decorated with a strong lip whose vetical pan is decorated with a Greek frieze; it is surmounted by a lion or Dog of Fô whose paw rests on an openwork sphere with the sacred geometric symbolic motif, the Golden Ratio.
It rests on a zoomorphic tripod base depicting clawed paws topped with lion muzzles.
Two very beautiful cut-out friezes adorn the upper edge and the base, it reveals a decoration with gold and enamels of radiating patterns, sacred pearls, foliage, flowers, vermiculated interlacing etc; similarly, the base of the cover is adorned with a similar frieze as a reminder of the two aforementioned.
Note the excellent condition of the object; but I would like to point out to you nonetheless that the two ears of one of the chimeras have small miss at their ends (see the last photo on this subject) and some slight wear to the gilding in some parts.
