Object description :

"Nevers Or Moulins XVIIIe, Ceramic Plate Ostrich Deer Antler !!!"
Nevers or Moulins, 2nd part of XVIIIth century, plate in the shape of a "cap" with an ostrich carrying ... deer antlers !!!

Curious and stunning animal decor, between the clumsiness or humor of the decorator (who had certainly never seen an ostrich anywhere other than on engravings of travelogues), and creation of a fantastic bestiary that has always made people dream -please see another of my announcements about the complete work of Ambroise PARE, 1611 edition.

Size approx 20cm diameter
Condition: 2 small ginning on the edge, please check photos

Last photos:
* Ostrich figure and skeleton, chap 35 Volatile monsters , Oeuvres d'Ambroise PARE, 1611 edition
* Ostrich hunting - Anonymous chisel engraving after Johannes Stradanus, edited by Hieronymus Cock in 1570.
Composition takes up Antonio Tempesta's scenes iconography of spear hunting, exit of the wood. It was therefore easy to transpose bears, lions, ostriches ...
* Authentic original engraving "Ostrich Hunting by the Moors", chisel engraving from XVIth century painting Johannes Stradanus; again same artist -please check my previous announcement on palombe hunting.
