"Brass Order Transmitter"
Discover this superb antique brass ship order transmitter. Exceptional for a marine or atypical decoration. The original order transmitter is a simple copper tube (an acoustic tube) connecting the gangway to the engine room. It has a plug at each end that acts as a whistle when in place. The communicator removes the stopper and blows in the tube, the stopper still in place at the other end emits the whistle, the receiver, if he hears the whistle, places his ear near the tube to listen to the message. The mechanical transmitter considerably improved the reliability of the transmissions which could be misinterpreted due to ambient noise. The mechanical command transmitter is circular in shape on a stand, and has two hands, one controlled from the bridge and the other from the engine room. The following basic commands can be transmitted (black for the front machine and red for the rear machine). The orders being limited, it was necessary to imagine some variations such as swinging the index finger from front to back every two times, the maneuver had to be done more quickly.
