Jime Dine, Tool box 6. 1966. Mixed media on paper, silkscreen and collage. Signed in pencil Jim Dine. Numbered 12/150 on the back. Born in 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, Jim Dine was heavily involved in the pop art scene of the 1960s, although his work draws on abstract expressionism and assemblage and collage techniques. from Dada. In the early 1960s, he began attaching items of personal importance to canvas, including paintbrushes, screwdrivers, and wooden pieces. The Tool Box series contains a number of intricate images taken from industrial design magazines and technical manuals, and in the case of Tool Box VI - Donald Duck, an image of Donald Duck, likely due to Dine's American education. .
