Provenance
Delivered on the same date as Randan, Bizy is apparently the most refined service of those of the royal table, but the refinement of its Persian decoration close to the Moorish style (that the service of the same name had initiated in 1836) , and its very deep turquoise background make it as innovative a service as the others of the royal table (this decor will be taken over with the addition of bouquets of flowers and birds on a service purchased by Princess Clémentine of Orleans , last daughter of Louis -Philippe, April 29, 1844, a year after his marriage to Prince Auguste de Saxe-Cobourg (see plate above). Wanted in 1842 by verbal order from Louis-Philippe, it seems to have been delivered between 1846 and 1847 and was paid out of his personal funds. Former possession of the Duke of Penthièvre inherited from his mother in 1821, the King did many works alongside Bizy and stayed there regularly, notably following the construction of a line of che min of iron in 1843.
