Oval table of the 19th century, representing a young woman in the style of the 17th, richly adorned with pearls and represented in bust. This quality woman wears a red silk dress adorned with many jewels and pearls. The painting presented here addresses a beautiful pictorial quality with a remarkable rendering of the complexions and the details. A superb cascading hair and a finely executed transparent veiling, suggests that a seasoned painter was at work. A difficult to decipherable signature is present in the bottom of the work. Our painting dates from the 19th century and its style evokes a follower of Justus Van Egmont. It is presented in a gilded posterior frame with oval view. Oil on canvas (73 cm x 60 cm) and its frame (83.5 cm x 70.5 cm). Just Literature of Egmont (Justus van Egmont in Dutch), was born in the United Provinces, he follows his mother to the death of his father and leaves to settle in Antwerp. He became a student of Gaspard van den Hoecke and began in 1618 a trip to Italy. On his return in 1620, he entered the studio of Pierre Paul Rubens for whom he realized a Last Supper for the Cathedral of Mechelen and collaborated in the cycle of the Life of Marie de Medici for the Luxembourg Palace. He became a painter of the princes of Condé then Orleans for which he realizes the decorations of the castle of Balleroy. He finally became an official painter of Louis XIII and Louis XIV. He then specializes in the big portrait of the kingdom. In 1648, he participated in the founding of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture, with twelve other painters among whom Philippe de Champaigne, Sebastien Bourdon or Charles Le Brun.
