Object description :

"Louis XV Tomb Chest Of Drawers Stamped Antoine Criaerd"
Commode tomb Louis XV inlaid rosewood in frames of purple wood, it opens five drawers in three rows. Rich ornamentation of chiseled and gilded bronzes with foliage decorations such as: handles, keyholes, corner falls, hooves and apron, and original locks. Beautiful royal red marble top in molded crossbow with original corbin beak. Antoine CRIAERD's stamp is half erased but legible, quality work of the first half of the 18th century. Very good condition, varnished. ANTOINE CRIAERD, active between 1720 and 1750, of Flemish origin and older brother of Matthieu CRIAERD, he worked in Paris in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine between 1720 and 1750. It is possible that he provided furniture to the cabinetmaker and merchant MIGEON. The few works bearing his stamp are related to the style of the Regency and the beginning of the reign of Louis XV.
