Old Batak Sumatra calendar. Period late nineteenth early twentieth century. Calendar divided into 12 months, 12 bamboos engraved. The writing Batak is written not by line but by columns and reads from top to bottom. The 12 bamboos are connected to each other by a buffalo bone engraved on both sides.
