Large bronze with brown patina signed Carrier Belleuse, representing "the reading lamp." Grand Prize of the Exhibition. H: 62 cm Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse Belleuse said Carrier (Anizy-le-Château 12 June 1824 - Sèvres June 4, 1887). Sculptor and painter, pupil of David d'Angers, he started in 1851. Salon He was the teacher of Auguste Rodin. He was one of the most prolific artists of the Second Empire. Inspired especially in the Renaissance style and in the seventeenth century. He is the father of Louis-Robert Carrier-Belleuse, who was his pupil, and Pierre Carrier-Belleuse, who was also his student.
