"Young Servant, Tangier 1887 - Joseph Milner Kite 1862 - 1945"
Joseph Milner-Kite 1862, Taunton, Devon (GB) - 1945 Millau. Son of a pharmacist, he studied in London, then in Antwerp. In 1883, he arrived in Paris and befriended the Irish painter Roderic O'Conor. He entered the Académie Julian in the studio of Bouguereau and Laurens With O'Conor, he discovered Pont-Aven in 1886, then Concarneau. He soon joined the artistic colony of this port. However, he exhibited regularly at the Salon, as well as in London (Royal College of Arts) and in major English cities. Concarneau and Cornwall, Morocco inspired much of his work. This watercolor is a delicate testimony of his stay in Morocco. Mounted with two dots of glue on flexible cardboard. Signed - and resigned, dated on the mount.
