Biography Antonin Mercié 1845-1916
Antonin Mercié born in Toulouse was a pupil of the famous sculptor Jouffroy and Falguière. He won the Grand Prix de Rome during his stay at the Villa Medici in 1874. He is considered a major artist of his time. His sculptures are present in many public places. He obtained the medal of the Legion of Honor he was also president of the Society of French Artists.

Biography of the Ferdinand BARBEDIENNE foundry
The Maison Barbedienne is a famous 19th century foundry, which quickly achieved great renown for its editions of statues and works of art. A bronze workshop, the company nevertheless works with other craftsmen, and associates its name with works of great diversity, particularly in furniture. Present at all the Universal Exhibitions of its time, the Maison Barbedienne was regularly distinguished by awards, in particular during the Universal Exhibition of 1855 where it received the Great Medal of Honor.
